Encyclopedia of needlework

For those of you who have not heard of the Encyclopedia of Needlework by Thérèse de Dillmont, it is a fascinating insight into needlework techniques, covering stitching, crotchet, macrame and lots more. It can still teach a thing or two even though it was written in 1884. Now it is available on-line

  1. Thanks for the link. It is indeed a treasure trove. I've discovered that a little tool that's come down the generations is for making netting! If I can find it I'm almost tempted to give it a go.

  2. Oh, that's great! I can actually read the text on this site; thank you! Having bought the lovely little book - which I shall treasure - I'll now insert the website address into its pages for future reference and those dark nights when the firelight glow simply isn't enough to see my needle by, let alone the text in the book!
